We are proud to have the Colchester Legion Pipes & Drums play at our games in 2017 and 2018. They formed in 1972 and are sponsored by Branch 26 Royal Canadian Legion in Truro and attend Legion functions and parades.
In addition to participation in local events the band has visited The Netherlands on 4 separate occasions, where they played in parades and marched with the Canadian Veterans who helped to liberate that country during the Second World War. It was a great honour for them to play for the Dutch people who have never forgotten the sacrifices made by Canadians.
The band proudly wears the Murray of Atholl tartan which was worn by the North Nova Scotia Highlanders during the war.
The band has played at several nursing homes in the Truro area and have participated in a few parades. Band members have been together for many years but are always welcoming new members! They are a non-competitive band that enjoys doing concerts and parades. The band meets on Monday nights in the Legion auditorium. They are under the direction of Pipe Major Cindy Johnson and Drum Sergeant Eleanor Moore. Sadly in 2019 they will not attend the games.
